Can we move on now from Anthony Weiner?

I’ve got to say that I’m getting a little tired, make that a lot tired of the whole Anthony Weiner story. The man has a problem, he needs to work this through with his wife and those who love him or call him friend. Yes, he should be doing it on his own time, so he should resign. Meanwhile, there is still a Japan that is piecing itself back together after a tsunami, earthquake and nuclear accident. There are still Haitians living in awful poverty. There are still people from Joplin, Missouri who are probably suffering post traumatic stress syndrome after tornadoes destroyed people and property. Thanks for your comments Phil. While the issues you raise would seem to take greater importance, I would argue that this issue strikes people in a very personal way and as a reporter I’m sure you’re aware that stories that hit personal chords are what interests the readers. Sex addiction is rampant in today’s world and it’s destroying relationships in tragic proportions. The last point you made about making resources available is spot on. Here’s an opportunity for this disease to be addressed and responsible reporters should guide things in that direction. If you could show how that will sell papers better then the publishers might even agree with them!
