It’s time for qualified Orthodox women to have the title Rabbi or Rabbi or Maharat. It is time. It’s good to have a discussion about this. If learned, scholarly women who have a mind, heart and a soul for the rabbinate are emerging, it’s not up to anyone, especially a male-dominated leadership, to keep them down. Enough of these excuses, these weak reasons. Many men feel threatened by the leadership of a smart, strong, learned woman. Get over it. It may not be in your lifetime, but there will be women in the Orthodox rabbinate. For many years, my wife and I hired a rabbi, a tutor to come to our house and learn with my then teen-age daughter. There are plenty who have spent their lives immersed in Jewish scholarship who are saying the same thing that Phil is saying.  Do you have any sources to contradict what he’s saying?  Do you have any actual halachic sources to say that women cannot have such a title?  The only rishon who says anything is the Rambam in hilchot melakhim, but there is absolutely no source for what he says, and he is roundly rejected by nearly every latter source, who reinterpret his statement of “melekh v’lo malkah” to mean only that a queen appointed by the Sanhedrin is assur, but that the people may indeed appoint women to positions of leadership.

Again, give me a single real halachic source that contradict’s what Phil is saying.

You really are not qualified to make statements dealing with something as serious as the tradition of authentic Judaism.  You are not an authority on halacha, and I don’t think you would ever claim to be.  Please understand that this discussion is not for people who spend most of their time writing for a newspaper instead of years of intense Torah scholarship.
