In yesterday’s Baltimore Sun, Robert Nelson argued that Obama should open ANWR, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas development (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.anwr0216,0,3437846.story). His arguments dismissing both environmental concerns and religious values were astounding, especially since, regarding the first at least, he is a professor of environmental policy at the University of Maryland. I submitted the following response to the Sun, hoping they would publish it in their letters section. Just in case they don’t, I offer it here for public scrutiny: “Let me see if I got this right.
