First, I would like to apologize for not writing a blog for quite some time. I have been very busy, but hope to resume writing regularly.
Now, to my blog.
Well what can you say but “WOW!!!”? The Orioles have started their season in an amazing fashion winning their first four games. This start was completely unexpected. People knew the O’s would be good, but didn’t think they would be this good! The Orioles have been doing everything right. Hitting, fielding, and pitching. The only thing we are failing with is with our health. But even without some of our starters out, we are still looking good. The question coming up for many “used-to-be non-believers” is what happened!?
Well, there are many things that happened that have contributed to our success. First, we have a fairly new team. We let go of many of our players from last season, only keeping eight players. This new team, personnel wise, contributed to a new team, record wise. Another reason for our success is Buck Showalter’s personality. Dave Trembley was a very nice man. In-fact, many players thought of him as another team mate or friend. This works for some teams, but not for the O’s. Buck Showalter on the other hand is a coach. He makes it clear to his players that he has high expectations and he is there to win. This pushes the players to try harder, and it pays off for the O’s. There is one more reason that the O’s are good. They forgot the past. They have taken the commonly used sports term “shake it off” and have shook off their past seasons. They have forgotten their past and started a new season.
As fans, we sometimes get excited and when a team starts winning, but, we get upset when they lose a game. Well, I am watching the second game against the Tiger’s while writing this. The score is six to two and it looks like we may lose, so it is important to remember that even great teams lose sometimes, and we would rather lose a few now than later. And that’s Blake’s take!
