Comments (2)One of the kvetches I hear most from young people today about why they’re often turned off by the organized Jewish community is regarding money – that everything seems to revolve around the Almighty Buck. Maybe they’re just a bunch of kvetchers, right? After all, you need money to make shuls run, federations thrive, advocacy groups flourish, Israel bloom, etc. Or maybe they’re on to something. Keep these articles coming as theyve oepend many new doors for me.
I’ve been in many shules where they give you “the card” before an aliyah or some such honor. It is a bit uncomfortable. If I want to give a donation, I’ll do it whether I have a card or not. People should not be embarrassed into giving.
