Yet it is miraculous that we are consuming more and more oil every year. Of course, our auto industry is in the tubes, bleeding billions of dollars in losses over the past few years. What’s so laughable is that two college-age brothers transformed their parents’ hybrid car into a “plug-in hybrid” that gets 100 miles per gallon because it can go 40 miles on a charge. Then the hybrid gas engine kicks in. Why is it that a pair of 20-something guys can build a hybrid for $3,000 and “The Big Three” can’t get one to market?
